What is the difference between 360° feedback and reverse feedback? 

360° is a programme of collecting and analysing responses from questionnaires given out to an individual’s line manager, direct reports, peers and customers (internal and external). The questions are set around the criteria for success in the role. The individual is taken through the analysis and agrees areas for improvement.

Reverse feedback involves only the individual’s direct reports (90°). They provide feedback via an anonymous questionnaire. Following a meeting to discuss the response the manager is encouraged to hold a facilitated meeting with the team to discuss the feedback. The aim is for the manager to commit to a series of changes/improvements with further meetings to assess success.

Both programmes are designed to improve the individual’s performance and boost working relationships with the team. Feedback can be on a 90°, 180°, 270° or 360° basis.
